Gear Up With The Full Armor of God

In physical battles, soldiers wear armor to protect themselves. In spiritual warfare, you need to put on the full Armor of God to protect and fight against evil attacks. It’s crucial to protect your head, chest, and feet from direct hits while holding a weapon to fight back. The Bible says in Ephesians 6:10 to be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

If we stand up to any battle with our own strength, we’ll be defeated or destroyed. To be effective in a spiritual battle and come out victorious, we must use the armor that God provides for us. That armor includes:

The Armor…

The belt of truth buckles around your waist. It’s the dedication to God’s written truth and commitment to integrity. Instead of using physical force, this helps secure other elements of your spiritual armor. Which means to know the written Word of God so you’ll be effective and stand firm against the wiles of the devil.

Put the breastplate of righteousness on your chest. Just like with soldiers or even law enforcement, they wear protection on their body to protect from shots fired by the enemy. A Godly character and a true relationship with God are important in guarding your heart and allowing us to fight effectively for purity and justice.

Your feet are fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Be willing to serve as a witness of the gospel and disarming the devil from stealing the faith of others. Believing and boldly proclaiming Christ’s message is a powerful way to overcome the enemy.

Take up the shield of faith to protect yourself from all the arrows shot by the evil one. This shows how having strong faith can help protect you from enemy attacks. Be sure to guard yourself from direct hits or you’ll be defeated.

Place the helmet of salvation on your head for a protective covering. It’s important to guard our head and mind from destruction. Plus salvation gives us deliverance when we need it. The sword of the spirit is the spoken word of God. It’s our offensive weapon to be used against the powers of evil. We must know God’s Word, trusting in its power and effectiveness. Satan tries to twist the word to destroy your confidence and deceive you.

Fight The Real Enemy…

Satan has strategies like hopelessness, temptation, fear, accusation, giving in to sinful desires, spiritual laziness, etc. He’ll do whatever it takes to temp believers to compromise their morals and distract them from devotion to Jesus. Satan knows our weaknesses and will use them against us. So stand firm and fight back because we’re given authority by the name of Jesus to conquer him with the Word of God.

Now those spiritual warfare battles might consist of: against our rebellious desires, against ungodly temptations of the world, & against Satan with his demonic forces. We’re called to overcome those worldly temptations plus exposing and speaking against sin. Our primary source of struggles is not flesh and blood, circumstances or people who offend or hurt us. The real enemy is Satan and the multitude of evil spirits which are his minions. So gear up with the full armor of God, raise your sword, and stand firm against the real enemy.
