Hunting With a Joyous Gift

I woke up for the 2017 opening day feeling like crap, I still managed to get ready and head out to my stand. I felt so sick that i could’ve very easily stayed home but I wasn’t missing opening day..

After the sun came up, a doe came out with her twins. I been watching them all summer from the house and on camera. It was so cute seeing them more up close. Watching them babies run and play put a smile on my face. They eventually made their way back into the woods.

It was tough trying to be quiet while getting sick but somehow I managed to get through it. I ended up propping my legs onto a branch and leaned back to ease the sickness some. Yes I was wearing a harness in the stand to keep me from falling.

On into the morning it started getting hot and that didn’t help my sickness on bit. All that plus the fact I wasn’t seeing anything anymore told me it was a good sign to head home and try again that afternoon.

My Joyous Gift Surprise

The next morning, I was still very sick. I ended up taking a certain test before getting dressed. Once I was ready to go, I checked the results. Sure enough it read “pregnant”. So many emotions came over me from shock to excitement. Even my husband was speechless when I showed him, yet happy too. What a blessing with many new adventures ahead. After a brief celebration, it was time to head out.

While sitting in my stand, many thoughts ran through my head. I knew things were going to change but also knew it was going to be great. I had alot of joy in my heart yet fear in my mind. Just then a doe came out with her baby. While watching them, I realized that a mother’s instinct and love would eventually kick in. That’s when a feeling of peace overpowered my fear.

I didn’t see much else the rest of the evening, so i packed up and headed home. I might’ve left empty handed but my heart was overflowing with happiness. We prayed for so long to have a child together and finally God provided us this blessing. Our future little hunter was on the way.
