Marriage is not something I take lightly! When I said “I do” I meant through it all. My husband is my best friend, biggest supporter and worst critic. We are honest with each other no matter if it’s good or bad. I can’t imagine it any other way!
Reaching Goals Together
We have always tried to help each other reach goals and chase dreams. I was there every step of the way when my husband killed his first black bear back in 2017. A big old boar weighing in at 437 pounds! My husband was within 5 feet of the bear when he shot him while the bear was distracted by the dogs. I was so proud of his accomplishment!
This past November, my husband worked very hard and we hunted multiple days hoping to get my first black bear. He kept the plots stocked up and constantly was checking trail cameras. It finally happened on November 23rd, only my bear was treed not bayed on the ground like my husband’s.
Hard Work Pays Off
It still feels like it was yesterday! It was the best hunt of my life and one I have dreamed about for a long time. No dogs were harmed and I got my bear! It was a small sow weighing in at 208 pounds. My husband was there every step with me just like I was with his.
He crawled through a thick bay with me. It was hot and we were tired but it was so worth it when we got to the tree and seen her sitting on a limb looking down. My brother in law was standing beside me and walked me through what to do. The dogs were hot and tired too so they would stop barking for a few minutes to catch their breath and we would have to stop also. This was so the bear didnt hear us coming.
Those moments of silence seemed to go on forever because I was so nervous she was going to jump out and run. When I finally got close enough to see her, my heart skipped a beat! Moments like those may not mean much to some people but it meant everything to me! That split second before I pulled the trigger, I was still in complete shock that it was finally happening! I am waiting on my shoulder mount to come back but I cant wait to see her setting on the wall right beside my husband Josh’s.
In Conclusion
Long story short, find someone who supports your dreams! Find that person that will be there with you in the moment and remind you how proud they are. Find that person that not only helps you chase your dreams but you can help them chase theirs as well. I am so blessed that my husband and I can be that couple who are reaching our goals together and sharing these memories with our son Levi as well!
