Bears are one of my favorite animals to observe and hunt. They’re intelligent animals. They also have the greatest sense of smell. When I was in the tree stand, we watched a bear. He literally was sniffing us out from a mile away. He wouldn’t come in because he knew something wasn’t right.
Bears are predators. Every time I go hunting to provide wild meat for my family, I feel the bears know we’re there in the treestands and watching us. I had this one bear look right at us and continue munching at the bait.
I really enjoy watching the cubs. When they feel safe enough to even come out to check things out. I can sit there for hours and just watch them. When cubs come in, a mama bear is usually near. Keeping an eye out.
If you’re new to bear hunting, here are some tips of telling male and female bears apart… A female bear has larger ears and narrow face instead of round. A boar has wide and rounder ears. The body is large and round. Big males has their feet turned in. The obvious is female is smaller and urinate from behind by squatting. Male bears urinate from underneath belly through his sfeet. Which is very obvious in larger male bears.
I can’t wait to go out hunting this year during bear season. Whether it’s to guide a hunter on a bear and help them have a successful hunt, which is an awesome feeling in itself. Or going on a guided or solo hunt myself. Either way, it’s a great feeling being out in the woods and the outdoors.
Bear with me.
