At the heart of Wildlife Women is the inspiration of it’s foundation.
Wildlife Women
Wildlife Women is a non-profit organization designed for women to experience the real wildlife. A group to Educate, Inspire, and Encourage women to get into the outdoors and enjoy wildlife.
Educate
WW founder Bridgette didn’t grow up hunting and had a natural fear of guns. As a young mom, she found that her daughter had severe food allergies and no idea where to turn.
After doing some research, trial & error, and a little luck, she realized her daughter could eat wild game without and negative consequences. When she became a single mom and found herself having to hunt, she overcame her fear of guns, began hunting on her own for food and her passion for the outdoors reached new levels.
Today her and the entire staff at Wildlife Women are dedicated to educating others about the benefits of life afield and choosing the right equipment.
Inspire
At Wildlife Women they want to inspire women to embrace the beauty of the outdoors, gain support from new found friendships, and create a legacy to be passed down to future generations. They host a variety of events for women only, mother/daughter events, and events that are designed to include the whole family.
Encourage
At the very heart of their mission is to encourage women to enjoy the outdoors, reguardless of their passions, in a safe and encouraging environment.
Wildlife Women hosts events throughout the year to allow women to participate in different outdoor activities including: shooting sports, hunting, fishing, archery, ATV rides, hiking, and many more.
Wildlife Women Founder
Meet the Founder, Bridgette.
“I grew up a coal miners daughter fishing with my papaw Charles. However, this was about the only outdoor activity my family enjoyed. Through the years I began to enjoy various activities such as: hiking, camping, and horseback riding. But only a few times. I was never exposed to guns and actually had an intense fear of them.
I had a beautiful baby girl that had terrible food allergies but thankfully could eat wild game without any health consequences. Soon I found myself a single mother and determined to provide for her. I managed to harvest deer, boar, elk, and soon became addicted to hunting. I found myself wanting to learn to do it independently. This was the beginnging of Wildlife Women.“

The Heart of Wildlife Women
Now when Bridgette became a single mom, she was determined to provide for her daughter on her own. This meant a better job, providing a home, and learning to hunt for her food. She chose to be a bowhunter due to her initial fear of guns.
She said the best feeling in the world is to sit at the dinner table with your own harvest feeding your child. This sparked a feeling of intense desire and determination to become an avid huntress. So she chose to only kill what she would eat. God had blessed her with this beautiful child, animals to feed her and the ability to harvest them.
Many years had passed and she had met many wonderful friends along the way that taught, helped, and encouraged her to hunt. But it was when she started going completely alone that she realized she was not as good as she thought. She had an entire year without anything to show for it. Bridgette felt she was a failure and cried at the end of the season and even debated on giving up.
That’s when she took a drive to her favorite spot on Pine Mountain to do some thinking. She not only wanted to get better and actually learn how to use the equipment, how to set up a hunt, and how to field dress an animal without any help. She wanted to find friends that enjoyed the same things she did. Also wondered if other women felt like her and didn’t know how to begin.
The Results
The result was the beginning of Wildlife Women! In a very short time, it’s grown from 50 to over 600 members.
“Having more women being able to get into the outdoors whether it’s hunting, fishing, hiking, etc. and be more confident in what they do. Also being able to carry on the outdoor traditions by passing them onto children, family, and friends. So the great outdoors of traditions and conservation never dies out.” ~ Melissa
The whole foundation of Wildlife Women is the inspiration that created it.
“HUNT to enjoy God’s beautiful creation, HUNT to learn and develop skills you never had. HUNT to build relationships, but most of all HUNT TO PROVIDE!” ~ Bridgette
Thanks so much for writing a feature about our organization. We really appreciate it.
I was honored to do this. Wildlife Women is well deserving and should be shared…
It’s hard to come by experienced people for this topic,
however, you sound like you know what you’re talking about!
